Stoked Skate Jam- Sunday 18th January 2004 @ Dimensions, Burslem, S-O-T. |
| The best turn out yet!
300 people through the door and a hectic jam was the result. Some skaters
get a bit stressed out because of the sheer amount of people and lack of
room- but my answer to that is, the more the better- it is a skate JAM!
It’s the whole point. Personally, I love the chaos!!
I felt the set up was good this time; I am looking to get a big ledge made for the side of the main driveway, possibly a ‘Hubba’ type thing? That will see some action come the spring/summer jams! The skating was pretty amazing- so good to see our local talent getting better and better. Family and friends were all rooting for their faves. The spectators went crazy: like they'd hit it big in a high-rolling casino game. There are some balls growing ever bigger as each jam comes around!!! |

The ‘best trick’ hour saw some sick stuff. The picnic table/kicker saw a lot of the early action. Brad was almost landing huge inside heelflips over it, Kev stuck a massive kickflip and Richie’s backside 180’s were well big! Phil’s frontside flip over it was class! On the driveway, Si Davis landed a wicked hurricane, Kev was sticking back and frontside lips, Chalky stuck a few smith’s down and a massive varial flip off the driveway to flat and was trying an insane 360 flip to 50.50 down the rail too! Norris took the prize, of a new deck courtesy of Dazed, with a nollie backside 5-0 down the rail. The lads from ‘Switch’ skateboard on-line mag were there for the full day and should of got some well good footage for their report! Thanks to Matt for making the effort and giving us some support etc!! A big thanks to Drew at Dazed for the prizes etc, also Extreme Channel for their endless support, Matt form Switch mag, the staff at Dimensions, the dj's and to all those that helped set up/take down- Cheers! See you in February!! Mark.
